Cadillac Almost Killed The Electric Car

With the release of 2013's Cadillac ATS, this American auto maker is setting itself up to compete with high-powered and high-mileage vehicles from the competition. Long before anyone else was thinking about electric cars, GM was poised to build an EV Caddy, exactly 100 years ago.

In 1912, GM introduced the electric starter on their Cadillac model line. Electric start vehicles were very popular back then, because instead of cranking the car (yes, they…

Cadillac is taking a strike at smaller luxury autos in order to attract the youth market. But don't think this American auto maker is forgetting about livery services. The 2013 XTS, which is taking over as flag ship from CTS, will have a limo variant available shortly after initial release at Motor Werks Cadillac in Barrington, IL.

Your average XTS measures 202.0 inches long and weighs anywhere from 3995 to 4180 lbs, depending…

Yes, this is the billion dollar question. Why is there legislation waiting in the wings to be voted on, that could cost U.S. taxpayers this much money? Well, fuel-efficiency.

Representative Dan Lungren, a Republican, of California's 3rd Congressional District has proposed a bill that would award the first U.S. domestic car manufacturer that makes 60,000 mid-sized sedans that run completely on gas and get at least a whopping 100 miles to the gallon.

As the legislation reads, hybrids and plug-ins are invalid for the cash prize. Personally, I think this is a great opportunity for car manufacturers, the government, and the U.S.'s occupants in general. The ROI on this billion dollar investment could be incredible. Advancements of this kind of nature could propel U.S. automakers back to the top of the world car market. This could put our people back to work creating innovative products.

Cadillac Rethinks US Diesel

American auto maker Cadillac has been playing with the idea of bringing a diesel powerplant to the United States in some of their vehicles. While diesel is a very popular fossil fuel overseas, it hasn't been a staple of fuel consumption since unleaded gasoline, as well as updated engines, were produced during the 1970's and 80's. And though diesel costs a few more cents at the pump, it tends to burn slower…
