Cadillac Rethinks US Diesel

American auto maker Cadillac has been playing with the idea of bringing a diesel powerplant to the United States in some of their vehicles. While diesel is a very popular fossil fuel overseas, it hasn't been a staple of fuel consumption since unleaded gasoline, as well as updated engines, were produced during the 1970's and 80's. And though diesel costs a few more cents at the pump, it tends to burn slower and cleaner, giving you greater MPG ratings.
But Cadillac is not only doing this for car buyers who stop by Motor Werks Cadillac of Barrington, located at 206 N Cook St in Barrington, IL 60010. The makers of Cadillac CTS want to battle European competition. Without a diesel engine, they don't stand a chance.
Cadillac will need a clean-diesel engine to compete with Europe's premium brands. This also marks the right moment for Cadillac to re-introduce diesel engine in United States markets.
Cadillac's VP of marketing, Don Butler, explained that, "(Diesel) could be a potential hedge in the U.S. because of diesel's great torque, great performance with great efficiency. We absolutely mean it when we say we aim to compete with the best of the best without compromises."1
Expect a diesel powered Caddy by 2014.
